Responsibility for administering and maintaining the Village Estate is vested in the committee of management, assisted by a secretary. The Management Committee consists of a maximum of 12 members. Shareholders in Jordans Village Ltd elect directly up to eight members who hold office in rotation for three years and are eligible for re-election without nomination. One member is sent from Jordans Meeting and three annually from the Tenant Members Committee. All must be members of Jordans Village Ltd. The Management Committee controls planning and development within the Village, administers and maintains Village property, including the Village Hall, open spaces (especially the Village Green and Crutches Wood), roads and sewerage, and it determines and collects the rents of rented properties, amenity, road and other charges Members of the Management Committee tend to be residents, so that the Village has become increasingly self-governing, with the result that one aspect of the original impulse to build the Village - the desire to create a human community - has not been lost. |
